But Does it hurt?

You may be curious about the sensation of a laser treatment if you’ve never had one before. Patients getting their first laser or IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) treatment are understandably concerned about discomfort. Generally speaking, our patients do not report any discomfort during their laser treatments.
When dealing with more superficial issues with a laser, such as pigmentation, veins, redness, or unwanted hair, it is common to experience what can be described as minor pinching, stinging, or snapping. Most people compare the pulsing of the laser to
having a rubber band snapped on their skin. The discomfort lasts only a fraction of a second, and the complete laser treatment takes only 15-60 minutes.
You will be given information about what to expect from the laser or IPL treatment chosen for your skin condition at I AM Medical Spas and Laser Centers.
It can reduce swelling and redness with just a slight skin cooling. Before your treatment, we can apply numbing lotion topically to the skin.
If any soreness does persist after laser treatments for the conditions mentioned, it is minimal and will be alleviated by applying a cold compress to the skin. Over-the-counter pain relievers like Advil or Tylenol usually do the trick.
Mild redness and swelling are to be expected in the hours following your non-invasive or minimally invasive superficial laser treatments. Still, they will subside within a day or two, allowing you to resume your regular activities swiftly.
