Our owners Lena and Stephen Hurt have seven kids (two hers and five his), so they’re like an
extended Brady Bunch. They have eight grandchildren as well. Yes, they are extremely busy, but
it is all super fun. They married in January of 2019, just over three years ago, and they are still newlyweds,
lol.
Lena opened her first beauty salon on her own in 2017 to support her two daughters as a single
mom. She began doing only eyelash extensions in a small corner of another salon in
Birmingham, MI. She relocated to Troy and rented a small space in a beauty salon shopping
center. Lena and Stephen decided to lease a 900 SF suite shortly after getting married in 2019
to accommodate the growth they were experiencing.
Stephen was let go from a 30-year sales/marketing and management career in December of
2021, due to a speech impediment. He had a fall in 2017, which caused the speech impediment.
While looking for another job, he began to become more involved in the salon, assisting in the
growth of the business through sales and marketing. The couple almost took a job Stephen was
offered in May of 2022. But after further discussion, Lena and Stephen realized they were
taking it for the sake of security, not for any other reason. They quickly realized that their
passion was in the beauty salon and the clients they were blessed to serve. They very much
enjoy working together and were seeing success; as a result, not to mention how much closer
they've become. So, they decided to go all-in, and both work full-time on the business's growth
and they decided to use our savings to pursue their dream of opening a medical spa after much
re-search, thought, and prayer.
